BAAC approved its credit line to 35,000 million for agricultural machinery procurement [2015-06-22]

BAAC extended its credit line for the procurement of agricultural machinery project, to reduce costs and increase production efficiency of farmers, to 35,000 million baht

The customers participating in the project can save interest costs down more than 100,000 baht each, result in increasing of the amount of BAAC loan payment more than 110 billion baht in 2012. In addition customer care with the preparation of insurance provided free by paying premiums for clients of 1 billion baht, to reduce the risk and reduce the burden of household debt of farmers.

Mr. Chaiwat Pokpong, Executive Vice President of BAAC, said BAAC has offered a loan for agricultural machinery procurement project with the total amount of 15 billion baht credit line for the period of 3 years (2011 - March 31, 2014). BAAC currently paid 15.655 billion baht for 50,844 customers participating in the project which can reduce interest costs to customers at more than 5 billion baht. To meet the needs of customers requesting for service such loans to continue, BAAC has extended credit line to this project with an additional amount of 20 billion baht totaling of 35 billion baht.

This project offer 2 loan objectives which are for purchasing agricultural machinery such as machines used in the production, processing, transportation vehicles with or without  peripheral devices such as tractors, harvesters, miller, etc. The second is to bring the loan to pay the leasing company, lease operators or leasing agent or affiliate or entrepreneurs who operate in the same manner to transfer of such agricultural machinery to the farmers or of any other person in the family. The participating farmers will receive a reduction of collateral whether it's a mortgage or a personal guarantee by 80 to 100 % of the property loan. The loan can be up to eight years repayment with an Effective Rate which is lower than the normal leasing (Flat Rate). The project will help farmers to reduce interest costs which will result in reduction of production costs and make a higher profit (Net Profit) for farmers.

For an overview of the credit operations of BAAC in fiscal year 2012 (1 Apr 12 to 31 Mar 13), targeting the loan payment increasing of 80 billion baht. But the end of third quarter or the end of Dec 2012 loans paid more than 110.388 billion baht, which exceeded the target due to flooding in the past so farmers need loans to restore their production together with a low interest rate loan (Soft Loan) from the Bank of Thailand's contribution to helping farmers around 42,000 million baht.

Mr Chaiwat also said BAAC’s credit operation is in the principle of self-sufficiency to reduce dependence on external finance for farmers and offer services that meet the needs of customers focusing on reducing the risk to the customer. In the past, BAAC arranged welfare projects for customers with a good repayment history such as a life insurance for free with a minimum coverage of 30,000 baht up to 100,000 baht to lighten the burden to heirs and families of clients. In case of death or permanent disability clients, there are 2.47 million and 2.53 million customers in 2011 and 2012 accordingly with the premiums paid by BAAC of 317.2 million baht and 652.6 million baht.
